White Mountains Regional High School just completed its fourth summer of Futures Camps. Principal Mike Curtis and camp coordinator Lisa Brooks hosted over 125 campers who participated in 18 individual camps. Students in grades 6 through 8 learned how to weld, created short films, spoke Spanish, toured the dentist office, solved crimes, created delicious meals from scratch, participated in lifetime fitness activities, and played music.
For four weeks this summer, students had the opportunity to attend Summer School to earn missed credits or for enrichment. Students in grades 9-12 participated in courses of study in the areas of Mathematics, Science, and Humanities. Students in grades 6-8 engaged in enrichment activities including STEM, Arts, and PE.
District Facilities Director, Rob Scott is overseeing the high school bathroom renovation. Contractors are in the process of removing the existing “boys” and “girls” bathrooms that have served White Mountains well for the last 50 years and will be installing 9 individual bathrooms for the school community to use. The boy’s locker room is getting a much needed makeover. Say goodbye to the “red lockers” and the boys’ locker room will also receive three new individual showers.
Fall sports are ready to kick off on Monday, August 15th. All practices will be held at WMRHS unless otherwise noted. All students who would like to participate must be signed up on FamilyID (www.familyid.com) and have a physical on file. Practice times and contact information for coaches are listed below.

9th grade orientation is scheduled for Thursday, September 1st, from 9:00 to 1:00 at WMRHS. Orientation will be led by the WMRHS Link Crew, a group of juniors and seniors who have been trained to work with 9th graders as they transition to high school. The event will include meeting new people, lots of fun, a tour of the school and more! Questions can be directed to Jeannine LaBounty at jlabounty@sau36.org.
In the counseling office, our two new counselors have been working with administration to finalize the master schedule and prepare to send out students schedules. They will be available on Monday, August 15th, on PowerSchool, and a copy will be mailed to families. Students with last names starting with A-L are assigned to Erica Hicks (ehicks@sau36.org) and last names starting with M-Z are assigned to Breanna Hurlbut (bhurlbutt@sau36.org). If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please contact your new high school counselor via email or contact the registrar Cindi Silver (csilver@sau36.org) at 603-837-2528 to set up an appointment.
WMRHS has many of our veteran faculty and staff returning in the fall along with several new hires. We are excited to continue building relationships, partnering with our community, and engaging your students in learning. As we get back to school in September we welcome your children to continue on their pathway as a Spartan.
