WMRSD District Dialogue
Welcome back to the 2018-2019 school year! Consider what the world will be like in 2031 when today’s kindergartners graduate high school! We don’t know exactly what it’ll look like, or what their jobs will be, but there are a couple things we do know: We need to prepare students to be accountable for their learning and to be self-directed!
WMRHS STEAM Academy Team travels to CODE.ORG
WMRHS STEAM Academy Team travels to CODE.ORG White Mountains Regional School District Teachers Dan Hubacz, Rick Grima, and Melissa Jellison traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for a week in July to become affiliated and trained to be computer science teachers though code.org. Code.org is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools. Their mission is that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, English, or algebra. We are very excited to embed this program into student projects at the STEAM Academy.

White Mountains Students Join to Help Bees Prosper
In this time of peril and hope for our global bee population, we can’t help but say that one of our ERC Grand Challenges Network schools is creating quite a buzz! The Spartan STEAM Innovation Academy (SSIA) at White Mountains Regional High School, teaming with the school’s Agricultural Science program, recently was awarded a Whole Foods BEE-cause Grant.
